Umbrella for Journalists Kasese (UJK), Uganda
Thank you Umbrella
for Journalists Kasese (UJK) and Musoki Rusia
for the fruitful discussions, sharing ideas and experience on questions of conservation,
conservation
education and humanrights
awareness in Kasese.
I am happy to start together with you the journey to transformation
During the meeting initiated my Musoki Rusia
Assiciate Programs Director - Umbrella for Journalists in Kasese, it was
realised that human culture and nature are intertwined. It was also found out
that conservation education and cultural heritage are areas that have been
neglected thus a need to use the power of story telling
and bridge this communication gap.
A number of interventions such as sensitization
through community barazas, short documentaries, dialogues on human rights and
natural conservation could have a multipier impact.
In strengthening knowledge sharing like the saying goes ‘old is gold’ campfire
meetings was thought of to ensure that ecological knowledge by elders is passed
to the young generation.
All said, UJK
as a grassroot media organisation with limited resources to steer the
initiatives identified thus calling for support from well wishers and like
minded donors globally.
Kasese District is a place everyone admiring to visit because of its natural
resources and hospitable people.
